Our Vision

At the Sports Law & Policy Centre, we believe in the power of sport to change lives. We are certain that with effective research, policy and law-making, we can reap the benefits of better, more balanced governance structures, systems, institutions and values to positively impact sport, and ultimately our society. We particularly recognise the unique challenges faced by sport stakeholders from the Global South, and aim to make our research and outreach inclusive and implementable. We are committed to keeping human rights, anti-discrimination practices, and the betterment of sport, at the core of our policy-based interventions.

Our Goals

Our Mission is to:

  1. 1. Build a healthy and thriving sports ecosystem with incentives for sustainable growth.

  2. 2. Promote research, advocacy and interventions to address systemic inequality, and democratise and balance interests in Indian sport.

  3. 3. Increase access to adequate and up-to-date information and resources on sports law and policy in India.

  4. 4. Ensure the availability of legal aid to athletes in need.

  5. 5. Create a diverse, accessible, and inclusive space for individuals from all backgrounds to engage with sports law and policy. In particular, we encourage persons from marginalised castes, the LGBTQIA+ community, and women to contribute to our blog and events.

  6. 6. Provide access to sports law education and materials to sports professionals and law students in India.
